Courses

Overview

  • The course is a 880m perimeter rectangle with a large orange buoy in one corner and a large yellow one in the opposite corner. There are small yellow buoys marking the other two corners (The diagram on this page is clearer than the photo above!).
  • Additional buoys show where you can turn and cut-across the rectangle for a short 360m loop (white buoys), or medium 490m loop (red buoys).
  • All courses are swum in a clockwise direction (keeping the buoys on your right) starting and ending at the orange buoy which is 100m from the entry/exit ramp (so that's an additional 200m to the loop lengths).

Details

  • Enter the water from the ramp
  • Swim (100m) to the large orange buoy (A)
  • Then swim to the first small yellow buoy (B), turn right and swim to the first white buoy (C)
  • At (C), for the short loop turn right and swim to the other white buoy (H), else swim to the first red buoy (D).
  • At (D), for the medium loop turn right and swim to the other red buoy (G), else swim to the large yellow buoy (E)
  • At (E), turn right and swim to the other small yellow buoy (F).
  • From (F), (G) or (H) swim back to the large orange buoy (A).
  • At (A) you can start another loop by turning right and swimming to (B), or swim to the ramp if you want to exit the water.
You must only enter or exit the water from the ramp. Please keep away from the lake edges and islands!

Tip: On your first loop pause at (B) and note the trees beyond (E) are easier to sight on than the buoys. Similarly, at (F) or (G) there might be a better land-based feature to sight on than the big orange buoy.
